Howdy and welcome to the first Connecticut Esports Academy Weekly Update! This is going to be a weekly update/newsletter that you can subscribe to and keep up to date on everything CTEA and Esports in CT! My name is Peter Quinn and I am excited to announce this new chapter in Connecticut Esports, our new partnership, and the open houses starting this upcoming week. So, without further ado, this is the CWU for the week of September 3rd, 2023!
I wanted to start off by saying thank you to everyone who has shown interest in what we’ve been up to for the last year. Here at CTEA we want to create a home for all students of esports to pursue, develop, and grow their passion for gaming and it is great to see so many like minded individuals respond in kind. With our new partnership with the YMCA in Wilton, we are aiming to do just that with club teams, coding classes, weekly tournaments, and many, many more fun opportunities to grow your esports strengths and the community at large!
We are officially opening up our first CTEA location at the Wilton YMCA, located at 404 Danbury Road. We have a lot of programs available for people to try out so we’re starting off with two free weeks of open houses. Come by to check out the computers, see what we offer, ask questions, as well as meet the coaches you could be working with to improve your game.
The schedule for these open houses will be Monday through Friday, from 3-7pm and Saturday from 1-5pm, however we will be off for Labor Day (9/4) and Saturday (9/9) for Rock the Y! If you are interested in joining the festivities at the Y find out more at wiltonymca.org. Feel free to come by while you’re at the Y and check things or by registering on our website ctesportsacademy.com ahead of time! You can also come in person and ask at the front desk for the Esports room and someone will help you out.
As for the programs that we offer, we’ll be participating in the VHEL fall season in almost every major esports title, including; Fortnite, Overwatch, Valorant, Super Smash Brothers, Rocket League, and League of Legends. The good folks over at VHEL help put on a nationally recognized seasonal series designed to give kids of all ages the opportunity to show off their skills on the big stage. Whether you are looking to bolster your chances applying to a collegiate esports program or are just starting out, CTEA will get you onto a team with a coach dedicated to seeing you improve your skills and outshine the competition. But bring your A game, VHEL is full of kids all over America trying to do the very same and only one champion can be named. Will you be the gamer to take it all this year?
Once again I wanted to thank everyone for all the support over the last year in making all of this happen. If you want to check out the space and meet other gamers interested in playing on an esports team sign up on the main page of our website ctesportsacademy.com. If you are already interested in signing up for our programs or interested in learning more you can do so at https://www.wiltonymca.org/ctea/. I hope to see you there!
