Howdy all! Hope you had an amazing April and are looking forward to the rapidly approaching summer season, like we are at CTEA! This monthly update will include the results of our VHEL Spring season, our finalized plans for this and upcoming summers, announcements for upcoming seasons and more, so if you’re a parent or kid here at CTEA, read through and get excited! We’re almost through another school year and are going to be kicking things off strong for Summer, 2024. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

Our two Fortnite Duo teams, CTEA Maroon and Gold have completed their VHEL Spring season, finishing in 12th out of 43 teams and 31st out of 45, respectively. Both of our teams improved steadily throughout the season, placing in their final drops multiple tiers ahead of where they placed their first start. Maroon’s first placement was 27th out of 43 teams and their last drop was 9th place, a huge improvement! For our Gold team the improvement went from 36th out of 45 teams all the way to 16th place in their final drop, another huge gain that we hope to see continue into the summer season. We hope they continue to get better as we accept some new team members onto our Fortnite Duo teams!

We are very excited to announce that we are trialing a couple new players to fit a new fortnite team here at CTEA Wilton for our summer season, and you can too! For this process, anyone can come in during our normal practice times as posted in our schedule to try out the game and the team environment for FREE! That’s right, during our off season anyone can come in and try out for our teams, receive feedback, and test out the team gaming environment for completely free by filling out our trial forms on our website. If you want to get in on this or have gamers in your life that would be interested in trying out competitive Fortnite, Overwatch, Valorant, League of Legends, Minecraft, or Rocket League, send them our way and we can help get them on the right track!

And just so we’re all on the same page, our off season will be lasting until June 1st, when we’ll be starting our Summer Season. Remember you don’t already have to be good at any game to start playing with us, just a desire to grow and get better. In that guise, we are looking towards making some more teams outside of Fortnite, and are pushing for our League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and Valorant teams. If you know anyone who plays or would be interested in playing these team games, let them know by sharing this newsletter or our contact information. That would be greatly appreciated!

Now for some other Monthly Announcements. We had a great Healthy Kids Day here at the Wilton YMCA and will be planning for another amazing one next year. In the interim we will be doing some more open house type events over the summer and during the fall time period, trying to replicate that open feel where people get to engage with the games and coaching staff. If you want to be updated on that follow our socials or subscribe to our newsletter where we will be sending out messages for when those open houses will be.

We also have our summer schedule , which will be an extension of our current curriculum (programming?). We will be hosting an extra social club from 3:00-4:30 on weekdays all summer long followed by our normal programming after that. Some items may change but this fits well with Camp Gordyland here at the YMCA so if you’re looking for summer fun and a bit of gaming, sign up for Camp Gordyland and a CTEA Aftercare. A full link and signup information will be posted on our website and coordinated with the YMCA sometime this month, so keep an eye out for that. We are also very excited for all of the interest people have given us in an esports summer camp, and we’ll be beginning preparations for future summers to have these such camps. Over this summer expect some small activities or days in which we may demo what a future summer camp may look like!

Final monthly announcement is that we are partnered with Lighthouse, an At Risk Youth Group for LGBTQIA+ adolescents attempting to find a safe and healthy place to express themselves and socialize with other kids, which is happening on Fridays, from 3:00-4:30. If you happen to know anyone interested in gaming and looking for a safe place to express themselves please contact Liv Keden at lkeden@kidsincrisis.org for more information. Gaming can be for all and we’re really proud to be a small part of that, so many thanks to Lighthouse for working with us!

That is all for our April Monthly Newsletter, we have a lot more coming at you all rather soon so keep in tune for that, and once again thank you all for the support as we try to make gaming better for everyone! Have a great rest of your week and we hope to see you all, very soon!
